Villagers oppose construction of SUMP near Shani temple

Khordha, Mar 25 : Five years ago, the Pubusahi Gram Panchayat sanctioned ₹ 2 lakh to drain the stagnant water from the Shani temple and the work was started.
But it was opposed and stopped by some members of the Pubusahi Gramya Committee and individuals who had encroached on government land. Now, the government has sanctioned funds for the said work. The Gramya Committee has brought a private Amina to demarcate Plot No-354, A 0.340 dec. A building is in a half-built condition at that place with government grant.
A sump will be constructed at that place and the waste water will be stored. If a sump is constructed at that place, more than a hundred houses on the both sides of that plot, and the farmers will face a lot of problems and the old water reservoir in the village will be destroyed. Kapileswar Dev’s pond and the temple road will be completely destroyed.
For the drainage of this dirty water of the village, there are two government plots, Mouza- Kapileswarpur, Plot No. -431, A-515 deci, Plot No. -430, A. -0.200 deci. to the west of Shani Dev’s temple. There are agricultural lands on the south side of that plot.
As these agricultural lands do not have irrigation facilities, the farmers are facing a lot of trouble to cultivate them. If a sump is built there, the surplus water can be pumped into the agricultural lands and farming can also be done. To look into this, the villagers have come together and submitted a memorandum to the Collector, khordha today.
