Bhubaneswar, Nov. 24: The Odisha government has intensified security arrangements across the state capital ahead of President Droupadi Murmu’s two-day visit, with a high-level coordination meeting held on Monday to finalise logistics and review preparedness.

As per the schedule, the President will arrive at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) at 2 pm on November 27 before proceeding to Raj Bhavan, where she will stay overnight. On November 28, she is expected to attend an official programme at the Odisha Legislative Assembly, followed by another engagement at Jayadev Bhawan.

A comprehensive four-tier security cover has been activated for her visit, with 25 platoons of police deployed across key points. Inside the airport, CISF personnel will secure the inner perimeter, while police units stationed outside the Assembly and along designated routes will operate as part of a joint security mechanism involving both central and state agencies.

The Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate Police has instituted a dedicated three-tier security arrangement, further strengthened by President’s Bodyguard (PBG) commandos and other specialised units. Barricades will be placed along the routes from the airport to Raj Bhavan and from Raj Bhavan to the Assembly to facilitate smooth and secure movement.

Monday’s review meeting saw participation from officials of the Airports Authority of India, CISF, Intelligence Bureau, Odisha Police, and Fire Services, alongside senior officers from the Khordha district administration, PWD, Electricity Department, and the Traffic Wing. The discussions, led by the Airport Director, Traffic DCP, and CISF DIG, examined inter-agency coordination to ensure a seamless VVIP visit.

BPIA, Raj Bhavan, and the Odisha Legislative Assembly will remain on high alert on November 27 and 28. Overall security supervision will be handled by five DCP-rank officers, supported by five ACPs, 20 Inspectors, and 30 additional officers.
