Bhubaneswar, April 18: Ollywood actor Varsha Priyadarshini on Thursday joined Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD). The actress joined BJD in the presence of Rajya Sabha member Sasmit Patra at a programme at Shankha Bhawan, the party’s state headquarters, here in the city.
Varsha, who recently parted ways from her Lok Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty following a legal divorce, will lead the film artiste-brigade of the regional party.
Almost all the leading actors of Odia film industry, including Anubhav Mohanty, have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Praising Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Varsha said she decided to officially join the BJD after being inspired by his ‘clean’ personality.
“I am a big fan of CM Naveen Patnaik. His spotless image and clear personality have always inspired me. The best part of CM Patnaik is he is very simple, speaks less but works more. Besides, he never talks against anyone. His works always speak. His contribution to Odisha is incomparable. He is unrivaled. Not only for me, but he is also ideal for everyone,” she said after joining the conch party.
In the 2019 general elections, Varsha had also campaigned for the BJD.
