Bhubaneswar, Aug. 18: Behind the operational performance of Vedanta Aluminium Coal Mines is a workforce focused on building skills and preparing for larger responsibilities. Across its Jamkhani, Kuraloi and Ghogharpalli operations in Odisha, more than 80 young professionals are contributing to critical business functions while gaining experience and developing expertise.

The company has created an ecosystem that combines professional learning, leadership development and opportunities for career advancement. Employees have access to higher education programmes at institutions such as Cornell University and XLRI, besides V-Lead, Vedanta’s flagship women leadership development programme.

Learning is also being driven through structured training, with more than 50 programmes conducted so far to strengthen technical, functional and managerial capabilities. The workforce is becoming more diverse, with over 40 women professionals, including leaders across functions, contributing to the operations.

“People are at the core of our success. By creating opportunities for young talent to learn, take ownership and lead, we are building capabilities that will strengthen our operations and shape our future,” said Amares Kumar, CEO, Vedanta Aluminium Coal Mines.

The company also places emphasis on recognising performance through platforms such as the BU CEO Award, Business Excellence Award and Shabash Card. These initiatives seek to encourage ownership, accountability and high performance while recognising employees and teams for their contributions.

Together, these efforts are helping create a workplace where learning and career progression complement operational requirements. Young professionals are gaining exposure to different facets of the business and opportunities to take on greater responsibilities, while women professionals are expanding their expertise and moving into leadership roles.

For Vedanta Aluminium Coal Mines, investment in people is closely linked to building a stronger and more capable operation.
