Memorial Meet Held to Mark Eighth Death Anniversary of Teacher Sarojini Das

Jajpur, Aug 28: A memorial meeting was organised by the Sarojini Smruti Sansad at its office in Shantibazar to mark the eighth death anniversary of noted teacher Sarojini Das, a respected educator from the Jarka area of Dharmasala block in Jajpur district.
The meeting was presided over by Dr Rajkishore Padhi. Distinguished guests inaugurated the programme by lighting a ceremonial lamp near the statue of Sarojini Das.
Renowned children’s litterateur Dr Prashant Kumar Swain attended the event as the chief guest, while retired college principal Santosh Kumar Behera was the chief speaker. Recalling the contributions of Sarojini Das, the speakers described her as an ideal teacher, a devout woman and a compassionate philanthropist who had earned respect in the local community.
On the occasion, Pritimagna, a collection of poems authored by Odisha Sahitya Akademi award-winning writer and senior educationist Dr Chittaranjan Mahanti, was formally released.
Organisation secretary Er. Siddharth Swayandeep Mahanti conducted the proceedings, while secretary Dr Chittaranjan Mahanti presented the annual report of the Sansad. Journalist Akhil Kumar Swain delivered the welcome address and introduced the guests.
Among those present were Binod Chinara, Vivekananda Ray and Latika Patnaik, who paid tribute to the late teacher and recalled her contributions. Arpita Patnaik, Shitikantha, Agastya and Ramesh Bhanja, among others, extended support in organising the programme.
Premalata Maharana proposed the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the meeting.
