Luminous eyes Odisha as key hub for solar, energy storage investments

Khordha, April 8: Luminous Power Technologies has reaffirmed its investment push in Odisha, positioning the state as a strategic hub for solar manufacturing and energy storage as part of its broader clean energy expansion plans.
At a high-profile government event in Khordha on Tuesday, the company showcased its advanced energy solutions while highlighting its growing manufacturing footprint in eastern India. The move underscores Odisha’s emerging importance in India’s renewable energy landscape, driven by policy support, improving infrastructure, and rising demand for clean power.
Senior company officials said Odisha is central to its long-term growth strategy, both as a production base and as a gateway to the country’s expanding clean energy ecosystem.
“Odisha represents a strategically important market—not only as a manufacturing base but also as a gateway to India’s clean energy future,” said Vivek Abrol, CEO and Managing Director of the company, pointing to the state’s increasing role in industrial and energy development.
As part of its expansion, the company is setting up two major facilities in the state. In Angul, an advanced plant focused on next-generation energy storage solutions is under development. Another solar cell manufacturing unit is coming up in Gopalpur, aimed at strengthening the domestic solar value chain. Both projects are in advanced stages and are expected to be operational soon.
At the Khordha event, the company displayed a range of end-to-end solar solutions catering to residential, commercial, and industrial users. These include on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid systems, along with new-generation technologies such as bifacial solar panels, high-performance inverters, advanced batteries, and smart monitoring applications.
Industry observers note that such investments could boost local employment, enhance skill development, and accelerate industrial growth in the region. With eastern India increasingly seen as a key driver in the country’s transition to a low-carbon economy, Odisha is emerging as a focal point for renewable energy investments.
With its upcoming projects, the company aims to contribute to India’s clean energy goals while strengthening energy security and supporting long-term sustainable growth.
