Collector Amrit Ruturaj stresses on zero casualty in DLCNC meeting

Khordha, May 20: Collector Amrit Ruturaj emphasized on zero casualty in natural calamities in District Level Committee on Natural Calamity ( DLCNC) meeting-2026 at Jayee Rajguru Conference hall Zilla Parishad Khordha.
Chairing the meeting, Collector Mr.Ruturaj said that all necessary measures would be taken to deal with natural calamities to achieve zero casualty mission. We need to do a proper review of disaster preparedness to deal with floods and cyclones. The administration has to be vigilant to deal with the situation at the field level.
Appropriate measures need to be taken in the fields of early warning relief and rescue operations, drinking water supply, health and vaterinary services, Collector, Mr.Ruturaj said. Collector, took several important measures in the meeting which was attended by MLA, Begunia Pradeep Kumar Sahu, Zilla Parishad Vice-President, Gopinath Moharana,ADM(Revenue) Safalya Mandit Pradhan,ADM, Bhubaneswar,Ramesh Chandra Jena , Zilla Parishad Chief Development and Executive Officer, Jyoti Shankar Sahu, Sub-Collector, Bhubaneswar,Dr.Manoranjan Sahu , Sub-Collector, khordha,Sankalp Swastik Sahu, Law, Works and Excise Minister representative, Roshan Satpathy, Puri MP, representative Dinabandhu Sahu, Jatin,MLA, representative Aman Abhishek Jena and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
In the meeting committee members presented their views on the disaster management.Accordingly, Collector directed the irrigation department to take steps on a war footing to immediately repair the weak river embankments and the breaches. He also ordered to the municipal council, NAC and Bhubaneswar Municipal Council (BMC) to desilt the drains in the urban areas and take measures for the release of excess rainwater and keep sufficient stocks of bleaching and anti -venom injections in all health centre as there is high possibility of snake bites during the rainy season.Steps will be taken to disseminate advance information to the people about various calamities.
Similarly, the fire service department is the first responder to any disaster at the district level, the Collector,said.
Adequate food and fodder must be stocked in inaccessible areas.
Adequate dry foods and other essential items must also be stored in all shelter homes. Even pregnant women, children and the sick/ elderly will be given special attention. Collector said that the control room will remain active 24 hours in various departments, blocks and district headquarter.He said that immediate assistance would be provided after the damage assessment and giving importance to boat registration in Chilika due to the cyclone.
Collector ordered a joint inspection of the boats of the Tahasildar, fisheries and forest department.He directed to keep adequate stocks of veterinary medicine, food for cattle and polythene.He directed the Chief District Agriculture Officer to be careful in the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Crops Insurance Scheme. MLA, Begunia, Pradeep Kumar Sahu emphasized on maintaining the shelters and the weak embankment of the ” Hada River” and Tulasipur Banki, Patanibar, Baradiha river embankment projects.
Zilla Parishad Vice-President Gopinath Moharana said, the natural resources should not be stopped in Banpur and Balugaon areas.At the end of the meeting Deputy Collector (Emergency) Sritapa Mishra proposed the vote of thanks. All the district level officers,BDOs, Tehsildars attended the meeting.
