Class IV student dies after falling from swing

Jajpur, Jan 18 :  In a  shocking  incident, a Class IV student died after falling from a swing at a primary school  under  Danagadi block    in Jajpur district on Saturday.

The  mishap took place during recess period at Bagapatia Primary School of Bagapatia village  under  Tamaka police station .

The deceased student has been identified as Somyarajan Sahoo(9)  ,  son of Nabaghana Sahoo from  Bagapatia village.Somyarajan along  with other children were  playing on the swing when he suddenly fell and sustained critical head  injuries.

 He was rushed to the Community Health Center (CHC) at  Danagadi where doctors declared him dead, said Achutananda Sa, a teacher of the school.Pritiranjan Ghadei the former MLA of Sukinda rushed to the hospital after this incident and consoled the parents of the deceased boy.

The deceased student’s  father  and other family members alleged that the boy died due to  the gross negligence on the part of teachers at the school.

When contacted,  the IIC of Tamaka police station, Pramodini Sahoo said’ Police seized the body of the student and sent to the government hospital at Danagadi for autopsy. After getting the postmortem report, we will know the exact cause of the death.
