Cache of banned cough syrup seized in khordha, 4 arrested

Khordha,Mar 22 : Industrial Estate Police Khordha have arrested four suspected drug peddlers and made seizure of 850 bottles of codeine -laced Eskuf cough syrup,a banned substance under NDPS in ongoing anti-drug operation.
Acting upon a specific tip-off regarding hoarding, selling and transportation of cough syrup by suspected drug peddlers Modi Padia near Jatni bypass as per the direction of SP, Khordha, Vivekanand Sharma under the supervision of SDPO Khordha Nihar Ranjan Pradhan and IIC IEPS ,Umesh Kumar Sahoo formed a team headed by SI, Ashok Mohanty conduct a raid and apprehended 4 persons.
The accused were identified as Ranjan Patshani(25) vill-kadaba, Begunia, Khordha, Jyoti Ranjan Sahoo(34) vill-Bali Sahi,Madhupatna, Cuttack, Trilochan Sahoo (42) vill-Sekh Bazar, Cuttack, Jagannath Pradhan (44) vill-Kanta Chhak ,Pallahat , Khordha and seized 850 bottles Eskuf Cough Syrup,Cash -1,27,100, Nexon car bearing regd.no-OD-02-CR-1333, Ford Figo Titanium Car bearing regd.no-OR02BQ133, Bajaj Pulsar bearing regd.no-OD25S1894, Bajaj Chetak EV Scooty bearing regd.no-OD02DE6442, TVS Star City plus bike bearing regd.no-OD 02 DE 6442 and 5 nos of mobile phone from their possession.
Further investigation is underway to trace the orgin of the contraband articles and unearth the broader network involved in the illicit drug trade, said the Superintendent of Police, Khordha, Vivekanand Sharma.
