AM/NS India launches Centre of Excellence at Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Paradeep

Paradeep, April 1 : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) has launched a Centre of Excellence (CoE) at Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Paradeep as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative Project ‘Daksh’. The centre, formed in collaboration with Schneider Electric India, aims to address skill gaps in the building and manufacturing sectors by establishing specialised laboratories focused on Residential Wiring, Basic Automation, and Industrial Wiring. These facilities are designed to equip students with essential skills in building automation and industrial manufacturing, ultimately boosting their employability both nationally and internationally.
The centre is designed to prepare students with skills and opportunities directly aligned with their field of study, helping them to pursue relevant career paths. Moreover, these courses also help young individuals with the knowledge and capabilities to pursue entrepreneurship in these technological fields. These courses can be later expanded to include training and certification in WorldSkills, significantly improving the quality of students’ skills and help them prepare for the jobs of the future.
The Centre of Excellence (CoE) was inaugurated by Shri Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India in the presence of Shri R. N. Sahu, Principal, ITI Paradeep, Smt. Kalpana Panigrahi, Principal, Government Polytechnic, Jagatsinghpur, Shri Laxmikant Biswal, Principal, State Institute of Plumbing Technology (ITI), Pattamundai, Kendrapara, Shri Dharmendra Behera, Employment Officer, Jagatsinghpur and Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head – CSR, AM/NS India. Faculty members of the centre, officials from AM/NS India along with community members were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Shri Suresha G, Executive Director of Odisha Operations at AM/NS India, said, “At AM/NS India, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of the workforce by empowering them with industry-ready skills and enhancing their employability. The Centre of Excellence aims to equip young individuals with hands-on experience using advanced technological equipment, significantly increasing their value in the competitive job market.”
Prior to the inauguration, an Institute Management Committee (IMC) meeting was held with representation from corporates, government officials and Principal of various ITIs. The meeting was chaired by Shri Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India and co-chaired by Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head – CSR, AM/NS India. The committee deliberated on a range of initiatives to enhance the industry readiness and value addition of ITIs across Odisha.
