No offence of hate speech made out against wrestlers: Delhi Police tells court

NEWDELHI,JUNE 9 : In a recent development, the Delhi Police has submitted an action taken report (ATR) to a court regarding a plea requesting the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) against the protesting wrestlers.

In the plea, the wrestlers were accused of making false allegations against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the president of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), and engaging in hate speech.

According to the police, after reviewing the video evidence provided by the complainant, it was determined that the wrestlers did not raise any slogans and did not commit any offense of hate speech.

Therefore, the police requested the court to dismiss the application.

Meanwhile, the court has scheduled the plea for further arguments on July 7.

Earlier, on May 25, the court had asked the police to submit an ATR in response to the complaint.

The application was filed on behalf of Bam Bam Maharaj Nauhatiya, who claimed to be the national chief of the ‘Atal Jan Party’.

The wrestlers named in the application are Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik.
