Malkangiri/Odisha,Nov 5 : A special public hearing and service camp has been organized in Jumdang village, near the Andhra border, in Dhuliput panchayat under Chitrakonda block, on the direct instructions of Malkangiri District Magistrate Prathmesh Arvind Rajashirke. This major administrative effort has been made with the joint cooperation of the district administration, police, local public representatives, tribal society and media with the aim of ensuring various welfare schemes and basic services of the Odisha government to the citizens of the border area. Jhumdang is an integral part of Odisha and the administration has assured the villagers that the state government is fully committed to the overall development of the region.

The special camp was presided over by Additional District Magistrate (General) Somnath Pradhan, while Additional District Magistrate, (Revenue) Bedabar Pradhan, Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Dasharthi Sarabu, Sub collector Duryadhan Bhoi, BDO Preeta Kumar and Chitrakonda Tehsildar Natbar Garda were prominently present. Various service camps like social security, Aadhaar registration, Shram Card, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and free health check-up and medicine distribution were organized for the villagers within the camp premises.

More than 500 villagers participated in the camp and presented their problems. A total of 137 grievance letters have been received by the district administration, including 4 collective problems and the rest are individual complaints related to job cards, ration cards and Awas Yojana. The administration made arrangements for midday meal for all the villagers present.

On this occasion, the District Magistrate said that the border village Jumdang is an integral part of Odisha. Our priority is to provide every welfare scheme and basic amenities of the Odisha Government to the villagers. The administration is always with the people and the development of our own land and people will not be neglected under any circumstances.

For peace and security, the police administration has deployed two platoon forces and barricading system has been adopted in the border areas. While the election process is going on in Andhra Pradesh, the residents of the border village of Jumdang in Odisha have taken a big and positive decision not to go and vote. While there was already talk that the villagers would participate in the elections of the neighboring state of Andhra Pradesh, after the immediate intervention, understanding and successful negotiations of the district administration on the instructions of the Malkangiri District Magistrate, the villagers have completely withdrawn their decision to vote for Andhra.

After the Odisha Government promised at the administrative level that all facilities would be provided, the villagers accepted it with respect and expressed their consent not to participate in the Andhra elections. The visionary leadership of the Malkangiri District Magistrate and the dedicated efforts of the district administration have proven to be a great success in winning the trust of the border residents and bringing them back to their land.
