Sudev Nair Steps Into Yash’s Toxic, Turning Blockbuster Momentum Into His Biggest Canvas Yet

MUMBAI, AUG 11 : Actor Sudev Nair joins one of Indian cinema’s most anticipated films, Toxic, directed by Geetu Mohandas and headlined by Yash. The period gangster epic marks a defining moment in a career that has been anything but quiet.
Sudev arrives at Toxic on a run of Telugu blockbusters, most recently Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu earlier this year and OG late last year, a stretch that has made him one of the more closely watched names moving across South Indian cinema. His choices have been just as deliberate off screen. He stepped back from Malayalam at the height of being typecast as a villain, unwilling to let a single register define him, and rebuilt his run elsewhere on his own terms.
That range is the throughline of his work, from Ezra and Bheeshma Parvam to Rajiv Ravi’s Thuramukham, where he played the main antagonist. Across languages and genres, he has never repeated himself, and audiences have followed the transformation more than any single role.
In Toxic, Sudev plays Karmadi, a close aide to Yash’s character, Raya. His role is being kept tightly under wraps, and his presence in the newly launched trailer has already drawn attention, though how pivotal Karmadi is to the story remains to be seen.
*Speaking about the film, Sudev Nair says,* “I don’t choose films by their scale. I choose them by the people making them. With Toxic, that was Geetu Mohandas, Rajiv Ravi and Yash, and I said yes before I had even read the full script. Geetu called and told me she couldn’t reveal much of the story, only that she would never let my talent go to waste. That was all I needed. This is the largest canvas I have worked on, and I cannot wait for audiences to walk into it.”
Mounted on a grand scale, Toxic releases worldwide in theatres on 26 August 2026. For Sudev Nair, Toxic is where the performer’s depth meets an actor’s charisma on his largest stage yet.
