Vedanta aluminium engages over 600 students through summer camps in Jamkhani, Ghogharpalli

Bhubaneswar, Odisha; June 19, 2026: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, organized summer camps across 12 government schools in the Jamkhani and Ghogharpalli regions of Odisha, benefiting over 600 students through a blend of educational, awareness, and recreational activities during the summer vacation period.

Designed to promote holistic development among children, the camps included sessions on art and craft, storytelling, quizzes and brain games, alongside interactive modules on earth sciences, career counselling, and sports. Students also participated in a tree plantation drive, planting over 500 saplings, integrating environmental awareness with experiential learning beyond the classroom.

The programme was attended by Mr. Karuna Sagar Patel, Block Education Officer (BEO), Hemgir, along with School Management Committee members, and teachers from participating schools. The summer camps also celebrated the spirit of employee volunteering, with 26 employee volunteers contributing 145 man-hours, equivalent to 46 man-days, towards organizing and conducting activities for students. Their active participation helped create meaningful learning experiences while strengthening community engagement.

Appreciating the initiative, Mr. Karuna Sagar Patel, Block Education Officer (BEO), Hemgir, stated, “I am delighted to see a range of engaging and joyful learning activities being organized for students. Such initiatives contribute to the overall development of children. More such programmes should continue in the future.”

Sharing their experience, employee volunteers highlighted the joy of engaging with children and contributing to the community, describing the initiative as both meaningful and fulfilling.

Nirmala Padhan, Teacher, Government High School, Chattabar, added, “The camp provided our students with an enriching experience through engaging daily activities. It fostered confidence, responsibility, and active participation, making the program both meaningful and impactful for the children.”

Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Employee Volunteer, shared, “Spending time with the children was a truly beautiful experience. Interacting and bonding with them was refreshing and fulfilling. I am grateful for this opportunity to give back.”
