Khordha, May 9 : World Red Cross Day was celebrated at the Maitri Bhawan premises of Pranannath Autonomous ,College, Khordha .The program was presided over by the Principal of PN, Autonomous ,college, Dr. Purnima Nayak and the former Vice-Chancellor of North Odisha University, Maj.Khirod Prasad Mohanty, was the chief guest and shared his experience about the Red Cross.
As the guest of honor, Prof. Subodh Jagdev delivered a fact-based introductory speech on the Red Cross.Dr.S.K. Kalamulla, a researcher at Cuttack Red Cross, was the keynote speaker and delivered a speech on the role of the Red Cross in the world and the selfless service attitude of the Red Cross volunteers and workers.
He said red cross is not an organisation,it is a promise that in times of crisis,no one is alone.Whether responding to earthquake, floods, health emergencies or supporting those displaced by war, the Red Cross operate in the most dangerous,remote or hostile environments , ensuring aid reaches everyone, regardless of nationality,race or religion.
Today, is a day to recognise these heroes and also remember those who have lost their lives while supporting our humanitarian mission.Prof.Prafulla Kumar Sahu, Khordha District Coordinator of Red Cross, delivered the guest introduction and welcome speech.The guests paid tribute to the founder of the Red Cross,Jan Henry Dunant, by placing floral wreaths on his portrait.
