Puri, April 11: Around 200 students of a government girls’ high school in Puri participated in a health and hygiene awareness programme organised by Eastern Green Foundation on Thursday.

The initiative focused on sensitising adolescent girls to personal hygiene, menstrual health and the importance of maintaining both physical and emotional well-being during their formative years. It also encouraged students to speak openly about health concerns and adopt healthier daily practices.

Medical Officer Dr. Neha Panda led an interactive session, explaining key aspects of adolescent health in a simple and relatable manner. She addressed students’ queries, making the session both informative and engaging.

The programme was conducted in the presence of Headmistress Sangeeta Nayak, along with teachers of the school. Representatives of the organising body, including Dr. Mousumi Panda, Mamta Mishra and Ashutosh Korkora, were also present.

Students showed keen interest and actively participated in discussions throughout the session. School authorities welcomed the initiative, underlining the need for regular awareness programmes to support the health and well-being of young students.

The foundation said it plans to extend similar outreach programmes to other government schools across the district in the coming days.
