AM/NS India celebrates 27thMines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week

Barbil/Odisha, Dec 24 : ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), celebrated 27th Mines & Mineral Conservation Week (MEMC) 2025-26 at its Thakurani andGhoraburhani Sagasahi Mines,under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Bhubaneswar region. The weeklong programme aligned with the theme of MEMC Week for this year–“Digital Mining – Transforming Today, Sustaining Tomorrow.”
About 87 mines of large and small category comprising of iron ore, manganese, bauxite, chromite, graphite, limestone and semi-precious stones in Odisha participated in the weeklong celebrations.
Shri Deepak Ranjan, DGM, Mining, OMC, Convenor of the MEMC2025-26 along with Shri Deepak Acharya (Geology), Tata Steel, Shri Karunakar Das, Deputy Manager (Mines), OMC, Ms. Smrutirekha Patra, Mining Engineer, IMFA inspected and evaluated Thakurani Mines including surrounding environment and mineral conservation. Similarly, Shri Sushant Biswal, Head-Geology & Environment, FACCOR, along with Shri Bikram Keshari Tanti, Sr. Manager, Geology, OMC, Sri Dasarathi Behera, Mines Manager, YAZDANI Steel & Power, Ms. Sangita Behuria, Dy. Manager, Geology, OMC inspected Ghoraburhani Sagasahi Mines.
Shri Amit Kumar Dubey, Sr. General Manager, Mining Operations, AM/NS India said, “The event marked a vital initiative in the mining sector, aimed at raising awareness and honouring the efforts dedicated to enhancing mine environments and promoting mineral conservation through digital mining operations.”
The purpose of celebrating Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation Week is to promote sustainable mining, protect environmental degradation, and conserve mineral through inspections, awareness drives, competitions, and award ceremonies.
