Utkal Hospital conducts comprehensive Fire Safety Mock Drill in association with Odisha Fire Services

Bhubaneswar, Nov. 22 : Utkal Hospital, a leading multi-speciality healthcare institution in Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar, conducted an extensive Fire Safety Mock Drill on Friday in collaboration with the Fire and Disaster Management Department, Government of Odisha. The initiative was aimed at strengthening emergency preparedness, boosting staff awareness, and ensuring that modern safety protocols are well understood and practised within the hospital premises.
The drill witnessed the participation of around 30 fire service officials and firefighters, who demonstrated various fire management and rescue techniques. The exercise focused on real-time response mechanisms, enabling hospital staff to understand practical procedures during emergency fire situations.
Key demonstrations included fire rescue operations from high-rise buildings, showcasing the use of advanced safety equipment and techniques used by trained firefighters. The team also demonstrated handling of LPG cylinder-related fire incidents, stressing the importance of quick response and correct method application to prevent the escalation of such fires. Another crucial part of the drill involved practical training in operating different types of fire extinguishers and managing fire both inside and outside the hospital premises.
The mock drill was conducted under the supervision of senior officials from the Fire Department, including Sri Narayan Dash, DFO, Bhubaneswar Circle; Sri Chinmay Barik, Station Officer; Sri Kunu Nayak, AFO; and Sri Manoranjan Rout, A.F.I. Their guidance played a significant role in helping hospital staff understand the nuances of emergency handling.
Senior officials and staff members of Utkal Hospital also took part in the initiative. Among them were Sri B.K. Subodh Singh, CEO; Sri Shaikh Sikandar, GM (Project & Maintenance); Sri Satyajit Sahoo, Fire Officer; Sri Arun Khilar, CFO; Sri Sandeep Nayak, HR Head; Sri Tanmay Choudhury, GM (Hospitality & Administration); Dr. Jyotismaya Mohapatra, Senior Manager (Operations); and Sri Biswajit Das, Chief Security Officer.
The hospital management described the session as highly informative and beneficial, noting that such drills significantly enhance preparedness and awareness among healthcare workers. Utkal Hospital extended its gratitude to the Fire Department for their technical support, expertise, and commitment to improving safety standards.
