Assam’s Culture Shines Bright at BWF World Badminton Closing Ceremony

Guwahati/ Assam, Aug 26 : The glorious culture of Assam shone brightly at the closing ceremony of the 30th BWF World Badminton Championships-2026 held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi.
The closing ceremony of the championship, which saw participation from over 800 players and officials from nearly 55 countries, gave special prominence to Assam’s rich cultural heritage.
A beautiful programme showcasing India’s cultural diversity was presented during the closing ceremony held immediately after the finals of Singles, Doubles and Mixed categories on the final day of the competition. Assam’s Bihu dance, Sattriya dance and Bhortal dance performances mesmerized the international audience at the event.
It may be mentioned that the successful organization of the BWF World Championships in India after 17 years has been highly praised across the world. Under the leadership of the President of the Badminton Association of India and Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, all officials of the federation worked day and night to successfully organize this championship with a flawless system.
Meanwhile, in the competition, the new generation duo of Gayatri Gopichand and Treesa Jolly won a medal in Women’s Doubles, thus maintaining India’s streak of winning a medal in every edition of the BWF World Badminton Championships since 2011.
