Hon’ble Governor Visits CUO, HAL, Millet Processing Unit, Deomali & Eklavya Model Residential School

Koraput, Sept. 10 : Odisha Governor Hon’ble Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati continued his two-day visit to Koraput district on Tuesday. On the second day of his tour, he visited the Central University of Odisha (CUO) at Sunabeda, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) unit at Sunabeda, the Rajput Millet Processing Unit in Semiliguda block, Deomali tourist site, and the Eklavya Model Residential School at Pungar.
At CUO, the Governor reviewed the university’s development programmes and academic progress. Interacting with faculty and students, he stressed that quality education requires quality teachers. He observed that students should have the right to choose institutions based on the availability of competent teachers and academic standards.
He underlined two key parameters to enhance the university’s reputation—transparent recruitment of quality teachers and improvement in ranking and grading systems. Dr. Kambhampati advised the authorities to address challenges behind declining enrollments and called for the appointment of permanent teaching and non-teaching staff.
The Governor expressed satisfaction over the university’s infrastructure development and welcomed the launch of new academic programmes aligned with the needs of Odisha and the nation.
He was received by Prof. Narasingha Charan Panda (Acting Vice-Chancellor), Dr. Rakesh Kumar Lenka (Acting Registrar), Mr. Duryodhan Sethi (Finance Officer), senior professors, and other officials. Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha, Laxmipur MLA Pabitra Saunta, Kotpad MLA Rupa Bhatra, Koraput Collector Manoj Satyavan Mahajan, SP Rohit Verma, and university faculty and students were present.
Later, the Governor visited the HAL unit at Sunabeda, where he held discussions with officers. At the Rajput Millet Processing Unit in Semiliguda, he interacted with women self-help group members on millet production and marketing. Pottangi MLA Ramachandra Kadam, Koraput MLA Raghuram Machha, Semiliguda Block Chairperson Lili Antabaria, Vice-Chairman Shiv Bangari, and Panchayat representatives accompanied him.
The Governor also visited Deomali, Odisha’s highest peak and a key tourist attraction, where he reviewed development plans with Collector Mahajan and Divisional Forest Officer K.V. Bhaskar Rao.
At the Eklavya Model Residential School in Pungar, Dr. Kambhampati inspected development stalls and interacted with students, teachers, parents, women’s self-help groups, including Lakhpati Didis and other stakeholders.
Governor’s Secretary Ms. Rupa Roshan Sahu and senior officials were also present.
As per schedule, the Governor will visit Malkangiri district tomorrow (Wednesday). On September 11 (Thursday), he will chair the district-level review meeting in Koraput before returning to Bhubaneswar.
