Industries Minister Sampad Swain inaugurates AM/NS developed  Mini Stadium at Paradeepgarh

 Paradeep, Jan. 19: A mini stadium constructed by the leading steel maker ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) at the Paradeepgarh village playground was inaugurated today by Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister of State (Ind. Charge), Industries, Skill Development and Technical Education, Govt. of Odisha.  As part of Project ‘Nirman’ under its CSR initiative, the company has constructed an audience gallery and a multipurpose stage along with the development of the entire field and pitch area.

Present on the occasion were Shri Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India,  Shri Debendra Rout, Sarpanch, Nuagarh, Sri Rohit Kumar Jena, Sarapanch, Bhutamundai, Dr. Vikas Yadvendu, Head-CSR, AM/NS India and Senior Advocate Sanjay Behera along with members of the community.

Prior to the inauguration of the stadium in a closely fought final today, Paradeepgarh Team emerged as winners of the second edition of the Udaan Inter Village Cricket Premier League organised by AM/NS India. In a 12-12 overs final match played at the Paradeepgarh village playground, Paradeepgarh Team beat Bhutamundai Team by 5 wickets. Batting first, Bhutamundai Team scored 119 runs for 9 wickets in 12 overs and chasing it, Paradeepgarh  Team scored 120 runs with the loss of 5 wickets in 11.3 overs. Cash prize of Rs 25,000 and a Trophy were presented to the winning Team while the Runner-up Team received a cash prize of Rs 15,000 and a trophy. Pradyamna Kumar Palai of Paradeepgarh team was adjudged Man of the Match and Man of the Series of the tournament. Awards were presented to the winners by Sri Sampad Chandra Swain and other dignitaries.

The second edition of the day & night inter village cricket tournament organised by AM/NS India, under its CSR initiative – ‘Udaan’, had started on December 17, 2024. Ten teams from ten villages namely Nuagarh, Baldia, Handia, Mushadia, Singitali, Paradeepgarh, Chakradharpur, Bhutamundei, Pipal and Phulbelari had participated in the tournament. In the semifinal matches played on December 19, 2024, Bhutamundei team beat Pipal team while Paradeepgarh team beat Handia team to reach the finals.

On the occasion, Sri Sampad Chandra Swain said, “I commend AM/NS India for their efforts in developing the playground and constructing the mini stadium and audience gallery, which will boost local sports. I’d also like to congratulate the winners of the tournament and urge the local youth to take advantage of this opportunity to further develop their sporting abilities and bring glory to the region.”

Sri Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India, said, “Development of sporting initiatives helps positively engage with the youth and develop both their confidence and character. It is one of the thrust areas for AM/NS India and we are committed for the development of the surrounding areas and will continue to support the community with such interventions.”

Under its CSR initiative, Project ‘Udaan,’ AM/NS India focuses on the development of sports infrastructure, supports local sporting events, and organises activities to promote the importance of sports in community development.
