Odisha: Autism Therapy Centre Celebrates Annual Day with Enthusiasm and Awareness

New Delhi, Dec. 2: The Autism Therapy Centre (ATC), Bhubaneswar, Odisha, celebrated its Annual Day along with Autism Awareness Day on Sunday, December 1, at the Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC) Auditorium near Kalinga Hospital Square. The event was marked by a mix of reverence and joy, bringing together autistic children, their families, and a host of distinguished guests.
Dr. (Prof) Manas Ranjan Sahoo, Vice-Chancellor of Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), graced the occasion as the chief guest. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the inauguration of the festivities.
Ms. Swarnalata Mishra, Chairperson of MAN Trust, presented the annual report, highlighting significant initiatives undertaken by ATC. These included the annual sports meet, observance of national and religious events, and the tree-planting festival ‘Bano Mahotsava.’
One of the key highlights was the prize distribution for winners of the “Sports Meet” and a debate competition on the thought-provoking topic, *“Autism: Disease, Disability or Different Ability?” The debate aimed to foster greater societal awareness of autism. Sri Gautam Panda (CHINU) was honored with the coveted “ATC Champion-2024” award.
The event was presided over by Sri Madan Mohan Panda, a trustee of MAN Trust, while Prof. (Dr.) Ranjan Kumar Bal, Vice-Chancellor of ASBM University and a member of ATC’s Executive Committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
The celebrations concluded with a vibrant cultural program performed by autistic children, followed by a lunch for all attendees. The event was a testament to the inclusive efforts of the ATC to empower and celebrate the abilities of individuals with autism.
