Boudh: Maoist camp busted in Odisha, huge cache of IEDs, landmines seized

Boudh, Jan. 18: In a major breakthrough, the Special Operations Group (SOG) and District Voluntary Force (DVF) on Thursday busted a Maoist camp in the Budhakhol forest in Odisha’s Boudh district.

A huge cache of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) landmines, electric wires, and other explosives were seized from the spot.

According to reports, acting on a tip-off, the combing team launched a search operation in Budhakhol forest. On sensing the movements of the SOG Jawans, the Maoists opened fire at them. In retaliation, the jawans also fired back forcing the Maoists to flee the spot.

No reports of any casualties were received from the encounter site till this report was filed.

The combing team, apart from the explosives, also recovered some batteries, Maoist uniforms Left-Wing Extremism (LWE) literature, medicines, and other items from the camp.

According to sources, combing operations by security forces continued for hours in the forest.
