The Odisha Skills competition, aimed at identifying and promoting young talent across emerging technologies and vocational skills, witnessed participation from students and professionals across the state. Poorbasha’s performance in the cybersecurity category was recognised for its technical depth and problem-solving approach.

Apart from her academic pursuits, Poorbasha Kar has been actively involved in technology-driven and community-focused initiatives. She is a volunteer leader with the Bakul Foundation and a member of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, where she has worked on projects related to sustainability, education and digital inclusion.

She has also interned with IG Drones, contributing to projects on drone technology and automation, and with SakRobotix Lab, where she gained exposure to hybrid humanoid robotics. In addition, she is associated with Fridays for Future India as a research team member, contributing to climate awareness campaigns.

Poorbasha previously served as Joint Managing Director of SAITED 2023, a national STEM festival hosted by SAI International, where she was involved in strategic planning and coordination of large-scale events.

Her earlier projects include the development of a home security system using a mobile phone, which was presented at the Grand Science and Technology Exhibition at IIT Bhubaneswar, and work on hybrid humanoid robotic systems.

Officials associated with the Odisha Skills programme said the achievement highlights the growing participation of young students, particularly women, in advanced technology domains such as cybersecurity.
