Vandalised Median Sparks Civic Outrage in Rayagada

By Chandrabhanu Singh

Rayagada, Oct. 9: A newly built road median along the main stretch connecting National Highway 326 in Rayagada has been found damaged and looted, with metal pipes and fittings allegedly stolen by unidentified miscreants.

The structure, built by the Rayagada Municipality for public safety, now stands half-broken — a reminder of negligence and lost civic sense. Locals suspect nearby shopkeepers’ involvement and have demanded a review of CCTV footage to catch the culprits.

“Hundreds pass through this road daily, yet no one noticed or acted. That’s the sad part,” said a resident.

Citizens have condemned the act on social media, calling it a “theft of public conscience.” The incident has reignited debate on how community indifference often destroys public infrastructure faster than time ever could.

Trees are coming out of the median and onto the road which also a cause of accidents
