Utkal Hospital Mourns the Untimely Demise of Rising Doctor Dr. Palak Nanda

Bhubaneswar/Odisha, Oct  30 : Dr. Palak Nanda, a promising young doctor at Utkal Hospital, a leading super-speciality hospital in the state, located at Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar, passed away prematurely on October 28, 2026, at the age of just 32. She had been suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment at Utkal Hospital.

Dr. Palak Nanda was working as a Junior Consultant in the Department of Pathology at Utkal Hospital. She was a competent, dedicated and committed medical professional. Her kind behaviour and sincere concern for patients, fellow doctors and other hospital staff had made her a much-loved member of the hospital family. Her untimely demise is an irreparable loss to the entire Utkal Hospital fraternity.

During her final moments, her husband, Dr. Manoj Kumar Nayak, her parents-in-law, her mother, Mrs. Deeptimayee Nanda, her younger sister and her maternal uncle were present by her side at Utkal Hospital.

A condolence meeting was organised today on the hospital premises to pay tribute to Dr. Palak Nanda and pray for the eternal peace and salvation of her departed soul. On the occasion, a two-minute silence was observed in her memory.

The condolence meeting was attended by Dr. Pragyan Ranjan Gharai, Managing Director of Utkal Hospital; Prof. Dr. Prafulla Kumar Das, Dean–Academics; Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra, Director–Medical Services; Mr. B. K. Subodh Singh, Chief Executive Officer (CEO); Dr. Niharika Pattnaik, Laboratory Director; and numerous doctors and staff members of the hospital, who paid their heartfelt tributes to the departed doctor. The atmosphere was filled with profound grief and sorrow.

Expressing deep sorrow over the untimely demise of Dr. Palak Nanda, Dr. Aditya Kumar Samal, Chairman of Utkal Hospital; Dr. Kalyan Rath, Founding Director; Dr. Arun Mohanty; Mr. Subrata Das, Director; and Mr. Shailendra Narayan Panda, Director, conveyed their heartfelt condolences. They also assured the bereaved family of all possible assistance and support from the hospital during this difficult time.

The Utkal Hospital family pays its deepest tributes to the departed soul of Dr. Palak Nanda and prays to the Almighty to grant her bereaved family immense strength, courage and patience to endure this irreparable loss.
