Utkal Hospital obsreves Fire Safety Week with emphasis on emergency preparedness

Bhubaneswar, April 19: In a proactive move to strengthen emergency preparedness and awareness, Utkal Hospital in Bhubaneswar observed Fire Safety Week under the theme “Prevention, Protection, Preparedness.” The initiative aimed to educate healthcare staff and stakeholders about critical fire safety protocols and response mechanisms within a hospital environment.

The week-long program began with a ceremonial lamp lighting, attended by top officials of the hospital, including Dr. Ranjan Kumar Mohapatra (Director, Medical Services), Dr. Pragyan Ranjan Ghadei (Managing Director), Mr. B.K. Subodh Singh (CEO), Mr. Manav (COO), Mr. M.K. Sikandar (GM, Projects & Maintenance), Mr. Arun Kumar Khilar (CFO), and Dr. Jyotismaya Mohapatra (Operations Head).

Addressing the gathering, hospital leaders underscored the vital importance of fire safety in healthcare institutions, praising the hospital’s commitment to implementing innovative and proactive safety measures.

A key highlight of the week was a comprehensive training session conducted by Mr. B.B. Das, former Chief Fire Officer of Odisha. His session covered essential topics such as accident prevention, fire control techniques, and immediate response strategies, equipping hospital personnel with life-saving knowledge and skills.

To further engage staff and reinforce learning, the hospital organized a quiz and a poster competition focused on fire safety themes. The observance culminated in a full-scale mock drill, simulating emergency evacuation and response procedures—a practical test of preparedness that saw active participation from hospital employees.

Through initiatives like Fire Safety Week, Utkal Hospital continues to demonstrate its dedication to maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff alike, reinforcing the essential role of preparedness in healthcare settings.
