Two New Primary Substations Inaugurated in Nabarangapur

Berhampur, March: TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL), a joint venture between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, has commissioned two new Primary Substations (PSS) at Jodinga and Dhodra in Nabarangapur district, enhancing power supply reliability in Umaerkote, Jharigaon and Raighar blocks.

The substations were inaugurated by Shri Nityananda Gond, Hon’ble Minister of School and Mass Education, ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare, along with Shri Balabhadra Majhi, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Nabarangapur, and Shri Narsingh Bhatra, Hon’ble MLA, Jharigaon. Dr. Subhankar Mohapatra, Collector and DM, Nabarangapur,  Senior officials including SE Jeypore Shri Manmatha Nath Mishra, EE Nabarangapur Shri Ashok Kumar Rout, and EE, Umerkote Shri Swarup Kumar Patra were present at the event.

Equipped with two 5 MVA transformers, the Jodinga PSS reduces the load on the existing Raighar PSS, benefiting approximately 10,000 consumers. Additionally, two dedicated 11kV feeders—Turudhi and Parchipara—have been commissioned, ensuring improved voltage stability and reliable power supply. The Turudhi feeder now supports around 6000 consumers, while the Parchipara feeder serves 4000 more.

Similarly, the newly commissioned Dhodra PSS will further enhance the reliability of power supply in the region, catering to growing electricity demand and ensuring reliable service to around 10000 consumers.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, CEO, TPSODL, said, “At TPSODL, we are committed to strengthening the power infrastructure in Southern Odisha. The commissioning of these substations is a step towards ensuring reliable and stable electricity supply, enhancing the quality of life and supporting economic activities in the region.”
