TPWODL Imposed 5 Lakhs Penalty

By Swagatika Mohanty

Burla, Jan.22: TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL) is committed to supplying reliable, high-quality, and affordable power to its customers across Western Odisha. The company has been making concerted efforts to curb illegal electricity usage, particularly in remote rural areas, to ensure that honest consumers receive an uninterrupted power supply round the clock.

In line with its policy of zero tolerance toward electricity theft, routine inspections are being carried out by TPWODL officials. During such routine inspection, a rice huller and ice cream factory at Bakti Village of Agalpur block under Bolangir district was found running unauthorized through illegal hooking from the nearby LT Network. The total load booked during the raid was 25.75 kW. Consequently, a penalty of ₹5.24 lakh has been imposed on the huller owner.

TPWODL urges all its customers to refrain from illegal electricity usage, which is not only a punishable offense under the law but also ethically and morally unacceptable. To combat power theft, the company has launched several initiatives, including setting up a dedicated helpline number, 8093061179, for customers to report any instances of illegal electricity usage within its operational area.
