TPSODL Inaugurates Hands-On Technical Training Centre in Phulbani to Boost Safety and Skill Excellence

Berhampur, August : Reinforcing its commitment to safety and skill enhancement, TP Southern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPSODL) inaugurated a cutting-edge Hands-On Technical Training Centre (HoTT) in Phulbani in Kandhamal district. The facility was officially unveiled by Mr. Amit Kumar Garg, CEO, TPSODL and Mr. Suresh Kumar Khetwani, Chief Safety, T&D, Tata Power, in the presence of senior officials and employees.

The HoTT Centre, an initiative under the TPSODL Safety and Skill Development Institute (TSSDI), is a significant step toward achieving the company’s “Mission Zero Harm” while nurturing technical excellence among its workforce. Designed to train employees across Phulbani, Bhanjanagar, and Boudh, the centre offers an immersive learning experience that blends theory with hands-on practice in a simulated work environment.

At the heart of the centre is a state-of-the-art practice yard, where trainees gain first-hand experience on replicas of Low Tension (LT) and High Tension (HT) networks. This real-world simulation enables linemen and Business Associates to perform practical tasks using the same tools and equipment they would encounter in the field.

From RMU operations, auto-enclosure handling, sectionalizer training, distribution transformer management to earthing procedures, insulation resistance testing,  the HoTT Centre provides a holistic curriculum to sharpen technical skills.

Speaking on the occasion, TPSODL CEO Mr. Amit Kumar Garg said, “Safety is not just a protocol, it is a culture we are embedding across every level of TPSODL. The HoTT Centre is a transformative step in empowering our employees with the knowledge, practical experience, and confidence to operate safely and efficiently. Our vision is to create a future-ready workforce that not only excels technically but upholds the highest safety standards in the power distribution sector.”

Moreover, safety awareness is included  throughout the campus with visual arts, wall paintings, and instructions, creating an environment that reinforces best practices at every step.

With the launch of this facility, TPSODL continues its journey of innovation, empowering its workforce to deliver reliable and safe power to the people of Southern Odisha.
