TPNODL Builds Trust Through Hands-On Smart Meter Demonstrations at Customer Care Centers

Balasore, Sept. 12 : TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, continues to prioritize consumer trust and service transparency. With the recent rollout of smart meters across its operational areas, TPNODL has taken proactive steps to address customer concerns and eliminate confusion surrounding the new technology.

Understanding that the transition from traditional meters to smart meters may raise questions among consumers, TPNODL has launched a hands-on initiative across its customer care centers. These centers now feature live demonstration setups with both smart meters and traditional meters connected to the same electrical load. This simple yet effective visual comparison allows consumers to see for themselves how both meters function and record usage accurately. The initiative has proven to be instrumental in building trust and clearing doubts, especially for those unfamiliar with the workings of smart meters.

This consumer-centric facility is now operational across customer care centers in 16 divisions, including five in Balasore, two in Bhadrak, and three each in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Jajpur and Keonjhar. At each location, trained officials are available to walk consumers through the process, answer queries, and provide clarity in real-time.

Adding further credibility to its efforts, TPNODL’s Meter Testing Lab has been accredited by the National Bureau of Accreditation for Laboratories (NBAL). This certification underscores TPNODL’s commitment to technical excellence and accuracy, aligning with global standards. It ensures that the metering results provided to consumers are both precise and reliable.

By combining technology with a human touch, TPNODL is not only modernizing its infrastructure but also strengthening consumer confidence. For the people of Northern Odisha, this marks another step forward in receiving transparent, efficient and trustworthy electricity services.
