Thousands throng PM Modi mega roadshow in Odisha capital Bhubaneswar

The PM has predicted that the BJP, which won eight of the 21 Lok Sabha seats in Odisha in 2019, will bag more seats this time and get absolute majority in the State Assembly and form its own government.

Bhubaneswar, May 11: Bent on to grab power in Odisha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a mega roadshow in Odisha capital Bhubaneswar on Friday evening.

Soon after arriving at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here at 8.20 pm, the PM went to the party’s state headquarters. From the party’s state headquarters,  he proceeded to Ram Mandir Square from where the 2.5 km roadshow started.

As Modi’s carcade passed through Ram Mandir Square, IDBI Square, Rupali Square and Vanivihar, thousands of rapturous people lined up on both sides of the road – Janpath –   thundered the air with chants applauding Lord Ram, Lord Jagannath and Modi. The PM, flashing his instinctive smile, waved at the crowd accepting and acknowledging the love and respect of the people.

As many as 10 platforms were built along the 2.5 km path to showcase Odisha’s rich art and culture to the PM. A replica of Konark Chakra or the Wheel of Sun Temple at Odisha’s Kornak which the PM showcased to the world leaders during the G-20 New Delhi summit held on December 9 and 10, 2023 were also displayed during the roadshow.

Odisha state BJP president Manmohan Samal, party’s Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha candidate Aparajita Sarangi were seen mounted on the specially designed Rath (car) of Modi.

Over 150 girls attired in Sambalpuri sarees walked before the carcade of Modi, presenting a captivating spectacle for the crowd.

On Saturday, Modi is scheduled to address the poll rallies at Bargarh, Phulbani and Bargarh.

The Prime Minister’s visit to Odisha on Friday was the second one in five days. Earlier on Monday, he had addressed public meetings at Berhampur and Nabarangpur.

“June 4 is the expiry date of Naveen Patnaik government. The BJP will form the government in Odisha on June 10,” he declared at the poll rallies at Berhampur and Nabarangpur.
