Terrorist killed, 3 soldiers injured during encounter in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kulgam

JAMMU/KASHMIR, SEP 8 : A terrorist was killed and three Army personnel were injured in an encounter that broke out in the Guddar forest area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.

According to officials, the operation began after the Jammu and Kashmir Police provided specific intelligence, following which a joint search was launched by the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF.

“Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist has been eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries. Operation is in progress,” the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said in a post on X.

Security officials said two to three terrorists may still be holed up in the area. Additional forces have been deployed, and an encounter remains underway.
