Sushama Rani Mishra Smruti Samman to be held on June 1

Smt. Nivedita Mohanty to Receive the Third Edition of the Honour

Bhubaneswar, May 27: The annual “Sushama Rani Mishra Smruti Samman” ceremony is set to be held on the evening of June 1 (Sunday) at Kalinga Sahitya Academy, Bahugram, Cuttack. The event is being organized by the Kalpana Sahitya, Sanskruti and Samajik Parishad to commemorate the enduring legacy of Sushama Rani Mishra and to honour eminent personalities in the field of literature and culture.

This year, the Third Sushama Rani Mishra Smruti Samman will be conferred upon Smt. Nivedita Mohanty, a noted literary figure and Yoga enthusiast, in recognition of her contribution to literature and cultural pursuits.

The event will also feature a poetry recitation session and the release of a new book titled ‘Bhakti Suman’, a collection of devotional poems.

The poetry recitation session will have Dr. Banoj Kumar Ray, a noted literary scholar and paediatric specialist from Shishu Bhawan, Cuttack, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests will include Shri Shivshankar Das of Kalinga Sahitya Academy, literary critic Smt. Manjula Pradhan, Shri Manas Ranjan Das of Satyamev Jayate, and poet Shri Shankar Pratap Dehuri.

The second session, dedicated to the book release, will be inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Natabar Satapathy, former Head of the Department of Odia, Ravenshaw University. Shri Manoranjan Panigrahi, Retired Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and a passionate literary patron, will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest. Noted writer and Assistant Director, Press Information Bureau (PIB), Dr. Pradeep Choudhury will deliver the keynote address.

Prominent guests attending the event include Shri Shashi Shekhar Das, President, Kalinga Sahitya Academy; Dr. Purnachandra Ojha, former President of the Academy; Shri Basanta Das; and Govind Chandra Mishra, former District Public Education and Information Officer.

The event will be coordinated by Smt. Manoj Manjari Deo, Chief Secretary of Kalpana Sahitya Parishad, alongside writer Bhagabati Khatua and writer-social worker Smt. Deepa Patnaik.

The Parishad’s General Secretary, Shri Gopal Chandra Jena, will also be present to grace the occasion.

The event promises to be a significant gathering for literary enthusiasts and cultural connoisseurs alike.
