Spurious liquor in branded bottles found in a licensed IMFL shop – four arrested

Jajpur,March 28 : Flying squad of the excise department on Monday arrested four persons and seized a huge cache of raw material, equipment and chemical used to make spurious liquor in a licensed Indian Made Foreign Liquor Shop (IMFL) at Balikuda Bazaar under Balichandrapur police station in Jajpur district.
Acting on a tip off , we raided the licensed liquor shop and seized many bottles of different volumes of the IMFL, stickers of bottles , machine for packing country liquor caps, huge quantities of spirit, chemical , empty bottles , levels of branded liquor companies and other incriminating items.
We sealed the liquor shop. During preliminary investigation, we came to know that the owner and employees of the liquor shop used to fill spurious liquor in expensive liquor bottles.
The spurious liquor was packaged like the original and sold to the consumers at a cheaper rate, said D. Patel, the Superintendent of the flying squad of the Excise Department of Cuttack.
The owner of the liquor shop managed to flee from the spot. Efforts are being made to nab him and others involved in manufacturing spurious liquor, added the official.
