Balangir: JSM College marks 10th anniversary with focus on holistic student development

Balangir, Odisha, Dec. 30: JSM College on Tuesday celebrated its 10th anniversary with an annual function that brought together academicians, educationists and professionals, underlining the importance of holistic development and value-based education.

The programme was held under the chairmanship of the college Director, C.A. Shrikant Sharma. Educationist and former general secretary of the Balangir Citizens Committee Manoranjan Sahu delivered the welcome address and introduced the dignitaries, while college president Manasmita Mishra presented the annual report highlighting the institution’s academic progress and extracurricular achievements. The event was coordinated by A.B. Ram Lipsa.

Principal of Balangir Women’s College Dr. Arvind Kumar Ojha, who attended as the chief guest, emphasised the need for nurturing students’ intellectual, ethical and social capacities alongside academic excellence.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Debdutt Indoria, Head of the Department of Commerce at Vikramdev University, Jaipur, who spoke on the contributions of eminent thinkers to the field of education and urged students to develop critical thinking and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.

Among the guests of honour were Dr. Sujyanendra Mishra, founder of Swaraj Hospital; Pitavas Panda, Director of JSM College; Dr. K. Devi, Head of the Department of Commerce at Titilagarh DAV Autonomous College; and Dr. Ashok Kumar Jena, AGM, Rourkela Steel Plant. Addressing the students, the speakers stressed that sustained effort, self-confidence and discipline were key to achieving success.

On the occasion, Dr. Sujyanendra Mishra, Dilip Dhal and Maya Padhani were felicitated in recognition of their contributions. The programme concluded with a cultural performance presented by the students of the college.
