Singer Sandhya Mukhopadhyay death a great loss

Jajpur , Feb 17: Writer Taraprasad MIshra  on Wednesday expressed grief over the death of veteran Bengali singer Sandhya Mukhopadhyay and extended condolences to the family and fans of the artist. “The passing away of Gitashree Sandhya Mukhopadhyay Ji leaves us all extremely saddened. Our cultural world is a lot poorer.

Her melodious renditions will continue to enthral the coming generations. My thoughts are with her family and admirers in this sad hour. Om Shanti,” Mishra tweeted. He said condoled the death of veteran Bengali singer Gitashree Sandhya Mukhopadhyay and said that her death is a huge loss to the world of music.

 Sandhya Mukhopadhyay, whose golden voice enthralled music lovers for generations and who had last month refused to accept the Padma Shri, passed away in Kolkata on Tuesday evening following a massive cardiac arrest.

She was 90. Mukhopadhyay was hospitalised on January 27 after she developed heart- and lung-related complications following Covid-19 infection. Since then, she has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law.Engnieer Arun Pattnaik Said said, “Saddened by the passing away of iconic Bengali singer, Gitashree Sandhya Mukhopadhyay Ji. Her death is a huge loss to the world of music. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. Om Shanti!”
