Sham Veda a Unique Combination of Spirituality and Literature

CUTTACK,JUL 22 : In our earlier webinars, we have discussed on the Rug veda and Jajur Veda. Our purpose was to explore the knowledge that were stored for us by our ancestors and to evaluate the relevance of those knowledge in the present context. In this series, we shall discuss on the Sam Veda.
The 127th Webinar of the Thinkers’ Club was dedicated to the Sam veda. As per our scriptures, the Sam veda contains 1857 verses. The saint Aaditya is considered as an authority on the Sama Veda. This holy scripture contains methods of worshipping, devotion, and chanting of various mantras. (Hymn)
The meeting was inaugurated by the famous Professor Dr Niranjan Tripathy. MrTripthy is a writer of popular science topics and also a veteran doctor stationed at Cuttack. He spoke about relevance of Vedas today.
Dr Arnapurna Nanda, an Aacharya of the AArsa Kanya Gurukula College at Dehradoon was the Chief Speaker. She spoke on the specialty of the Sam veda. According to her by singing the verses oof this veda, one gets mental peace and tranquility.
Swami Santananda Saraswati from Haryana spoke on the directions prescribed in the veda relating to salvation by following proper rituals and observation of austerity. According to the holy man, the Vedas are still today relevant in human life. Greater goals of life can be achieved by following vedic philosophy.
Barada Das, the President of the Club, presided over the meet. Mr Das in his presidential speech said, “ Vedas are the early literary work of the world. According to him, if the hymns of the Sam Vedas are sang with devotion, it removes all sorrow of a person from his mind.
Prof Jay Krushna Choudhury, summarized the deliberations and offered the vote of thanks.
Umasankar Misra, Suhranshu Mohanty, Nimai Swain, Dr Suvendu Patanaik, Balmiki Nayak, Aabha Das, Minakhi Mishra, Niranjan Panda, Pushpanjali Parida, Sneha Mishra, S.K.Patanaik and Jogini Jogamaya participated in the discussions. Jyoti Malla managed the technical aspects of the meet. The next meeting will be on the Atharba Veda the creation of saint Angira.
