SCML – A Unit of Aditya Birla Group Enhances Educational Infrastructure in Nearby Schools

Bhubaneswar,Aug.12: In line with its commitment to improving educational standards and facilities in the Chendipada region of Angul district, Subhadra Coal Mine Ltd. (SCML), a subsidiary of Essel Mining and Industries Ltd. under the Aditya Birla Group, has extended substantial support to six nearby schools namely Tangarsahi Primary School, Kankarei Up School, Pirakhaman Primary School, Bahalasahi UP School, Kankarei High School, Raijharan High School through the provision of Smart Interactive Boards and Solar Power Systems.
The initiatives were formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble MLA of Chendipada, Shri Agasti Behera, in the presence of Shri Bijay Majhi (nominee of the Hon’ble Union Minister and MP, Sambalpur), Shri H S Solanki (GM, MCL), Head Masters of respective schools, Mr. Bimal Baral (Unit Head, SCML), senior SCML officials, and members of the local community.
Following the inauguration, a large-scale plantation drive was organised under the theme “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, during which the Hon’ble MLA, GM-MCL, Unit Head-SCML, and other dignitaries planted saplings to promote environmental awareness.
Commending SCML’s efforts, the Hon’ble MLA lauded the company for providing high-end infrastructure to promote quality education in the region. He also urged the teaching faculty of all six schools to utilise the facilities effectively to strengthen digital literacy among students.
The Smart Interactive Boards are designed to enable modern, technology-enabled teaching methods, making lessons more engaging and interactive. The Solar Power Systems will ensure uninterrupted power supply, fostering a more conducive environment for holistic education.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from local stakeholders, school management, and community members, reflecting the collaborative spirit of the initiative.
This programme is part of SCML’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) vision to empower communities through education, health, and sustainable infrastructure development.
