Ram Madhav, Smriti Irani make a comeback in Nitin Nabin’s big BJP reset

NEW DELHI, AUG 17 : Union minister Piyush Goyal, former Union minister Smriti Irani, RSS national executive member Ram Madhav and former chief ministers Biplab Kumar Deb and Tirath Singh Rawat were among the prominent leaders named as BJP national office-bearers on Monday as party president Nitin Nabin unveiled his core team.

The announcement came months after Nabin succeeded JP Nadda as BJP national president. While Goyal was appointed national treasurer, Madhav and Rawat were named national vice presidents. Irani and Deb were appointed national general secretaries.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Baijayant Jay Panda, Rekha Verma and Tariq Mansoor have retained their positions as national vice presidents. Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal will continue as national general secretaries, while BL Santhosh remains national general secretary (organisation).

Anil Antony has been retained as a national secretary, while Anil Baluni will continue in a key national media role. Five of the 13 national vice presidents are women, while Irani is the only woman among the eight national general secretaries.

A notable omission from Nabin’s new team is Amit Malviya, a prominent face of the BJP’s digital and social media operations. Moreover, Deepak Mhaskey has been named national social media convenor, with Priti Gandhi, Shivanand Dwivedi, Alok Bhatt and Arun Yadav appointed co-convenors.

OTHER KEY APPOINTMENTS

Shivprakash and Saudan Singh have been appointed national joint general secretaries (organisation), while BL Santhosh will continue to oversee the party’s organisation at the national level.

Former Congress spokesperson Rohan Gupta has been elevated as a BJP national secretary, while Anil Antony has retained the post.

Rajesh Mangal has been appointed national joint treasurer. Sambit Patra has been made the party’s North-East coordinator, while Tarun Chugh has been named central office in-charge.

The saffron party has also brought a change in the Kisan Morcha leadership, with Bansilal Gurjar from Madhya Pradesh being named the new head. He has replaced Rajkumar Chahar from Uttar Pradesh.

NITIN NABIN, PM MODI CONGRATULATE APPOINTEES

Congratulating the newly appointed office-bearers, Nabin said the team’s combination of experience and energy would give fresh momentum to the organisation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance.

He expressed confidence that its members would work as dedicated party workers to strengthen the BJP and advance its vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and nation-building.
