President Droupadi Murmu’s alma mater  gets 108-foot monumental National Flag

Bhubaneswar, Dec. 18: A 108-foot monumental national flag, installed by the Flag Foundation of India, was unveiled on Wednesday at Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The university, alma mater of President Droupadi Murmu, now proudly hosts this towering symbol of national pride and unity.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Odisha’s Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo and Speaker of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Surama Padhy. Naveen Jindal, three-time Member of Parliament, chairman of Jindal Steel and Power (JSP), and president of the Flag Foundation of India, joined the event virtually. Other notable attendees included Major General Ashim Kohli (Retd.), CEO of the Flag Foundation of India, and Prof. Aprajita Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University.

Strategically placed within the university campus, the monumental flag is set to become a source of inspiration for students, faculty, and the broader Bhubaneswar community. It embodies values of unity, respect, and patriotism.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Chief Minister K.V. Singh Deo commended the Flag Foundation of India, led by Naveen Jindal, for its consistent efforts in fostering patriotism by installing monumental national flags across the nation.

The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and dignitaries, who attended the grand unveiling with pride and reverence.

Prashant Hota, JSP’s President and Head of Group CSR, underscored the initiative’s importance, stating:

“Shri Naveen Jindal, President of the Flag Foundation of India, has tirelessly championed the right of every Indian to hoist and display the national flag with pride and respect. Under his visionary leadership, the Foundation has installed 158 monumental national flags across India, including eight in Odisha.”
