OUJ elections held; Prasanna Mohanty re-elected president, Kishan Rout new general secretary

Bhubaneswar, Jan. 12: The biennial election of the Odisha Journalists’ Union (OUJ) for the 2026–27 term was held here, with senior journalist Prasanna Mohanty being re-elected as president, while Kishan Kumar Rout was elected as the new general secretary.
The election results were announced by Election Officer Ajaya Kumar Das during the Union’s General Council meeting and foundation day celebrations held on Friday.
Parikshita Biswal and Santosh Kumar Singh Deo were elected as vice-presidents, while Amulya Ranjan Swai was re-elected as treasurer. Acharya Biswaranjan, Deba Prasad Das, Ruturaj Singh and Rupesh Kumar Sahoo were elected as secretaries. Rabindra Kumar Mahakud, Subhankar Jena, Ashok Kumar Mahakud and Sukanta Kumar Sahoo were elected as organising secretaries.
As many as 25 members were elected to the State Executive Committee. Aditya Mekap was appointed chairman of the Discipline Committee, with Upan Sahoo as vice-chairman, while Ajaya Das, Pradipta Mishra and Prashant Behera were nominated as members.
Later in the afternoon, a meeting of the newly elected office-bearers was held at the OUJ office to discuss organisational matters and future activities.
