Orientation programme organised at Rayagada Autonomous College

Rayagada, Sept 4: Rayagada Autonomous College hosted an orientation-cum-welcome ceremony for the new batch of Arts, Science, and Commerce students of the 2025 academic session.
The programme was attended by Principal Dr. Saraswati Ray, PG Council Chairman P. Arun Kumar, Controller of Examinations Y.V. Sai Madhav, Administrative Bursar T. Jyoti, Lt. Uday Naik, Academic Bursar Dr. Ajay Rait, Head of Physics Department Ramesh Huika, Accounts Bursar Subrata Kumar Pradhan, Bhavesh Mohanty, Scholarship Officer Tubal Venia, along with faculty members, heads of departments, and non-teaching staff.
In her welcome address, Dr. Ray congratulated the freshers and encouraged them to focus not only on academic pursuits but also on skill-based training. She reminded students that the true goal of education is to mould individuals into responsible citizens and meaningful contributors to society. She urged all to uphold the values of learning, service, and culture, thereby enhancing the prestige of the college.
P. Arun Kumar emphasized the need for research-oriented education and inspired students to actively participate in seminars, workshops, and literary events. Y.V. Sai Madhav elaborated on the examination system, internal assessments, and academic regulations, stressing the importance of regular attendance. Both T. Jyoti and Lt. Uday Naik advised students to maintain discipline, adhere to institutional rules, and help build a clean and orderly campus.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Ajay Rait and Ramesh Huika underlined the significance of sincerity in academics, discipline during examinations, and consistent classroom participation. They noted that the college should be seen not merely as a place to earn degrees but as a hub of knowledge, values, and creativity. They also encouraged students to make effective use of the library, engage in workshops, seminars, and project-based learning.
Faculty members further motivated newcomers to join NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross, sports, and cultural activities for their holistic development.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ramesh Huika, Head of the Physics Department.
