One miracle survivor walks away from site of Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD, JUN 12 : Police have said one survivor has been found following the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

The survivor had minor injuries and was able to walk away unaided from the site of the crash.

He has been identified as Vishwas Kumar Ramesh, a British national who was in seat 11A, said reports.

The 40-year-old was returning to the UK along with his brother Ajay Kumar Ramesh

He is believed to be the only survivor among the 242 people including 230 passengers and 12 crew on board the plane that crashed less than one minute after take-off.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, which was headed for London, had taken off at 1.39 pm.

Of the 230 passengers, 169 were Indians, 53 British, seven Portuguese and one Canadian.

The plane was flown by Capt. Sumeet Sabharwal, an experienced captain with 8,200 flying hours, and First Officer Clive Kundar, who had logged 1,100 hours.

The crash is the worst ever accident involving a single aircraft in India.
