Odisha CM Mohan Majhi stops to listen to villagers on journey home

Bhubaneswar, Oct. 22: What began as a routine trip to his native village of Raikala turned into a heartfelt engagement with the people for Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday.
As his convoy departed the Circuit House around 10 a.m., Majhi spotted clusters of villagers along the roadside, eager to voice their concerns. Instead of maintaining distance, the Chief Minister stepped out, walking among them and listening attentively.
Residents shared a variety of issues—from dilapidated local roads to questions about welfare schemes. For each grievance, Majhi responded with calm assurance, promising prompt action. What was meant to be a brief journey became an impromptu public durbar, showcasing a hands-on and approachable style of leadership.
Upon reaching Raikala, Majhi participated in the traditional Gobardhan Puja, joining friends, neighbours, and community elders in rituals that fused faith with familiarity. His visit came a day after he celebrated Diwali in the same village, immersing himself in the Goth Puja of the Kudumi community—beating drums, enjoying folk music, and sharing laughter with those he grew up alongside.
Later, he continued his festive tour in Keonjhar district, visiting Kali Puja pandals, blending celebrations with direct engagement with the public—a reminder that governance and community life can walk hand in hand.
