Odisha CM Mohan Majhi lays foundation stone for major industrial projects, Including plywood plant in Koraput

Koraput, Sept.15:  In a significant push towards industrial development, the Honorable Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Mohan Charan Majhi, today laid the foundation stone for 27 projects across 12 districts of the state through video conferencing. Among the key initiatives was the foundation of Green Play Sandila Private Limited, a major plywood manufacturing unit, at Ranikana in Semiliguda Block of Koraput district.

The foundation stone laying ceremony at Ranikana was held under the leadership of Koraput District Magistrate, Manoj Satyawan Mahajan, in the presence of local dignitaries including Block Chairperson Lily Anta Biria, Block Vice Chairperson Shivaya Bangiri, BDO Yasmin Pradhan, Tehsildar Debabrata Borati, local Sarpanch Mahalaxmi Jani, and other public representatives.

Addressing the event from OUAT Hall, Bhubaneswar, Rajesh Mittal, Managing Director of Green Play Sandila Private Limited, announced that the company will invest ₹606 crore to establish two plywood factories at Ranikana, Semiliguda. The factories will focus on the production of paper, plywood, and other forest-based products. Mr. Mittal emphasized that the project is expected to generate direct employment opportunities for around 1,300 local youths, further contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.

He credited the state government’s pro-industry policies, spearheaded by CM Mohan Majhi, for enabling such large-scale investments in Odisha’s industrial sector, particularly in underdeveloped districts like Koraput.

This initiative marks a significant step in Odisha’s ambition to strengthen its industrial infrastructure, promote local employment, and harness the region’s natural resources for sustainable growth.
