Odisha aims higher intents at MIO Conclave 2022; likely to surpass previous editions’ business volume

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30: The Odisha government hopes mop up investment proposals worth over Rs 6 lakh crore from the the four-day ‘Make in Odisha Conclave 2022 commencing Wednesday,

This is going to the third edition of the Make in Odisha Conclave.

In the first edition of the Conclave held in 2016, the state had received 124 investment proposals worth more than Rs 2 lakh crore, and employment opportunities for over one lakh people. In the second edition held in 2018, the state bagged investment proposals worth Rs 4.19 lakh crore for projects across 15 sectors that can create around 5.91 lakh potential jobs.

This time, at least nine countries have confirmed their participation in the state’s flagship biennial investors’ meet.

We are quite optimistic that we would get huge intents this time and the total volume of investment proposals will surely surpass the previous two editions’ commitment,” industry minister Pratap Keshari Deb said on Tuesday evening at the curtain raiser press conference.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will inaugurate the event and an industrial expo on Wednesday, November 30. He will host the plenary session with chief executives  and business leaders from across the countries, the next day.

For the first time, a huge international pavilion will be set up for the partnering countries and overseas delegations at the industrial carnival, being organised in collaboration with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

The MIO is inter alia expected to bolster innovation and expansion in the state’s start-up ecosystem with an aim to maximize investment and opportunities for start-ups in the state.

The event promises to be an effective platform to network, impart knowledge, forge partnerships and facilitate growth of start-ups across sectors. Further, going by the conducive business climate in the state and backing from the government, start-ups beyond Odisha can weigh the prospect of setting up their businesses here in the state.

Startup Odisha will play a pivotal role at MIO and will be seen as an important step in the overall growth of the start-up ecosystem and economy of the state. The aim is to maximise investment in the state through innovative programmes that showcase the start-up prowess of Odisha.

Principal industry secretary Hemanta Sharma and principal secretary information and public relationship Sanjay Singh were present in the press conference.
