Observance of the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar

Bhubaneswar/Odisha, Apr 14 : CSIR-IMMT, Bhubaneswar, solemnly observed the 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar with great enthusiasm and active participation from nearly 400 attendees, including around 100 students representing various schools across the city.
The programme commenced with the inauguration of AmbedkarUdyan and a plantation drive led by the Chief Guest along with the Director CSIR-IMMT, symbolizing a collective commitment towards sustainability and social responsibility.
The formal session began with opening remarks by Dr.Ramanuj Narayan, Director, CSIR-IMMT, who reflected on Dr.Ambedkar’s enduring legacy in shaping a just and equitable society. Dr. R. Sakthivel, Vice-Chairman of the Celebration Committee, extended a cordial welcome to all dignitaries and participants.
The Chief Guest, Shri Satish Kumar Gajbhiye, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Special Armed Police), Government of Odisha, delivered an insightful address highlighting the relevance of Dr.Ambedkar’s ideals in contemporary society. He urged students to embrace education, equality, and social responsibility as guiding principles in their lives.
As part of the celebrations, meritorious participants of various competitions were felicitated. In addition, 80 school bags were distributed among students from RRL Project U.P. School, Adruta Children’s Home, and other institutions, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to community outreach and educational support.
The event provided a meaningful platform to inspire young minds and reinforce the values of inclusivity, justice, and empowerment.
The programme concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Santosh Kumar Behera, Scientist F and Convenor of the Celebration Committee, who expressed sincere appreciation to all guests, participants, and organizing members for their contributions.
An evening cultural programme featuring performances by professional artists and students of IMMT Sangeet Kendra was also organized, followed by dinner.
