Nilkamal Cracks Down on Counterfeits in Puri,over 150 Fake Mattresses and 4000+ Labels Seized

Puri, Odisha, Jun 3 : In a major enforcement action, Nilkamal’s Legal Team, in coordination with local police authorities, successfully raided two shop-cum-manufacturing units in Puri that were illegally producing and selling counterfeit Neelkamal mattresses.
The operation led to the confiscation of over 150 fake mattresses and more than 4,000 duplicate labels falsely bearing the Nilkamal’s name.
Following a formal complaint, the raids were conducted with the support of Pipili Police Station, led by Investigating Officer Ms. Surma Swai.
At the unit operated by Mr. S.K. Abutair, the authorities seized:
● 135 counterfeit mattresses
● 3,800 corner labels
● 2,250 center labels
Mr. Abutair was arrested on site for manufacturing and selling counterfeit goods.
At the second unit, owned by Mr. Nazrul Ali, the raid yielded:
● 15 counterfeit mattresses
● 650 corner labels
● 310 center labels
Mr. Ali was not present during the raid and has been marked absconding.
Despite temporary disruption due to crowd interference, both raids were completed successfully, and all counterfeit goods were seized.
An FIR (No. 0300/2025) was registered under Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957 and Sections 318(4) and 345(3) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Legal proceedings are currently underway.
“Nilkamal maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards counterfeiters,” said a company spokesperson. “We are committed to protecting our brand, our partners, and our customers. Legal action will be pursued to the fullest extent of the law.” The company has also urged retailers and consumers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious sales or distribution of fake Neelkamal products.
