Odisha gets Rs 4,000-crore natural gas pipeline

SUKINDA (ODISHA), DEC. 18: Marking another significant development in the spread of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga in Odisha, Union petroleum and natural gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday laid the foundation stones for new Dhamra – Angul 36-inch main line and Bhubaneshwar-Cuttack-Paradip 12-inch spur line at Haripur in Odisha’s Jajpur district.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said 600-km long natural gas pipeline project was a new year gift for the people of coastal districts of Odisha from the Modi led Government.
Mr Pradhan said foundation stone for the LNG Terminal at Dhamra with the investment of Rs 6000 crore had already been laid a few months ago. Gas will be imported from countries like Australia, Qatar in cape size vessels and supplied to Allahabad of Uttar pradesh through 2500-km long pipeline.
The 600-km long natural gas pipeline to be constructed in Odisha with an investment of Rs 4,000-crore will cover 13 districts such as Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Angul, Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Debagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Khordha, Puri and Kendrapara and will connect major industrial clusters of Khurdha, Jharsuguda, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kalinganagar, Jajpur and Paradip.
